I don't do many HDR photos, but every once in a while I see something that suggests it might be a good candidate.

Cars are one of those things that always fascinate me. Old is best, rust is good and then, there is the generation I grew up with.

When we were wandering around Scio yesterday, we walked past this Chevy Malibu parked in front of overgrown wisteria. I am fairly certain that underneath the wisteria is probably the garage the Malibu was once parked inside.

The car tags were current, so at least this one is still maintained unlike some many of the other cars we've stopped to photograph.

When I saw the Malibu, it immediately brought my attention back to the Catalina that I found in a field nearly 18 months ago. I loved this image and probably remains one of my favorites. According to the tags, she took her last ride in 1974.

We drove by the field again today, just in case. The Catalina was gone. I hope someone took her home to give her the TLC she justly deserved.

Day 479 - Save the Gribble Barn

As I was doing some research yesterday for Dr. Pierce's barn, I discovered another barn not far from our house... it is also in trouble.

The barn was built in 1907 and the barn itself is still owned by a Gribble, but the land it sits on is owned by someone that wants to see the barn go away.

The "Flying Double A" logo was painted on by a Portland company in 1986 to run in a national ad for Burger King. Maybe they should pony up to save the barn. :o))) Search as I may, I can't find a commercial or ad to back it up.

On a side note, I e-mailed a delightful blogger from Cottage Grove last night asking about the Pierce barn. It's fate is in jeopardy. The new owner of the property wants it torn down. The city council has given it a 90 day stay of demolition. Sigh.

Day 349 - The blue door

I was in Portland for a Photoshop seminar with Bert Monroy. It was fabulous and that man's talent is off of the charts.

At lunch I walked down to the waterfront. Just north of the Steele Bridge stands one of the grain elevators. I'm guessing it is part of the Port of Portland, but doing a quick Google search got me very little information.

Looking down at it, I admired the three forms of transportation, rail, water and land. After post-processing, I was mildly amused by the bright blue door on the top of the grain elevators.

Who has time to weed the garden? I think for this moment in time I will pretend that it is my neighbors garden and they need to weed.

Yes, yes, that works.

OK, confession time, it is our garden and I was feeling uninspired after work. Thought I would give HDR a shot.

It is really slick now. Set the custom function for the number of shots, set it up, set the two-second timer and it fires off all of the shots on one mere click of the shutter.
